Environment Canada: Significant rainfall forecast for this afternoon

Environment Canada says that heavy downpours may lead to higher rainfall amounts of up 40 mm.

Special weather statement in place for:

  • Pickering-Oshawa – Southern Durham Region
  • Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham

As a low pressure system approaches, rain will move in from the southwest today. The total rainfall amount is expected to reach 20-30 mm by Wednesday morning, when the rain will recede to a few showers.

In areas that experience heavy downpours during a storm, it is possible to receive locally higher amounts of rainfall up to 40mm.

Heavy downpours can cause ponding on sections of highways that are not well drained.

Motorists should allow extra time for their destination.
