Environment Canada: Significant rainfall is expected

Environment Canada warns that slippery surfaces such as roads, highways, walkways, and parking lots can become icy and slippery.

Special weather statement in force for:

  • Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale

 

Expected significant rain and freezing rain.

Hazards:
Periods of heavy rain are possible. It is possible to get up to 20mm of rain.
The ground frozen has a reduced capacity to absorb the rain.
Freezing rain can lead to ice accumulation.

Timing:
It is possible to freeze this morning and into the afternoon.
Rain can be heavy from this afternoon to this evening.

Discussion:
This morning, patchy freezing rain is possible before it turns to rain in the afternoon.

Surfaces like highways, roads and parking lots can become slippery, slippery and hazardous. Be extra cautious when driving or walking in these areas.

Rain is expected to start late this morning or early this afternoon with as much as 20mm.
