After a very cold and snowy winter, temperatures are beginning to rise. This means that there is the possibility of light showers.
Environment Canada says that we will see a system moving through the region this week. What type of precipitation? Temperature will play a major role in this as we hover at a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius during the day.
Gerald Chang, Environment Canada Meteorologist commented on the amount and quality of snow currently on the ground. I know the current level and it is around 40 cm.
The average March length should be 23cm. Last year, we had traceability [amounts of snow]He said that there was a marked difference in the way things have changed from last year.
We received about 8 cm of snow this weekend, according to Environment Canada.
Chang shared some thoughts about this week’s events. I think we will need to be vigilant for any disturbances that may be coming through the region, particularly Tuesday and Wednesday.
He stated, “We are currently referring to the seasonal range, if you look at the temperature forecast.” Our seasonal high should be at 0 degrees Celsius. However, if we look at the weeklong weather forecast, our daytime peak should be at or above 0 degrees Celsius.
Chang answered a question about the possibility that rain might occur. Chang stated, “Whenever there are disturbances moving through we have to look at the temperature because it is the temperatures which determine what type and amount of precipitation we will get.”
He continued, “Considering the fact that daytime highs are higher than normal, then you know that showers are definitely possible.” Right now, Tuesday and Wednesday are the most likely days to see showers.
Snow is possible, Chang said.
