Environment Canada warns that significant rainfall is possible today.

Environment Canada warns that rainfall amounts of 15-25 mm could cause flooding in low-lying areas.

WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Special weather statement in place for:

  • Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines- Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region

Significant rainfall is possible today.

Hazards:
Localized flooding may occur in low-lying regions if rainfall amounts exceed 15-25 mm

Timing:
From this afternoon to tonight

Discussion:
Rain is expected to fall around noon today and then intensify this evening. Rainfall totals of up to 25mm will be possible before the rain taper off tonight. Partially frozen ground may be less able to absorb the rain, so flooding in low-lying regions will be possible.

For information about flooding, please contact your local Conservation Authority, Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry. For the most current information, visit Ontario.ca/floods.
