Environment Canada warns that there will be more snow in southeast Saskatchewan

Environment Canada issued a series alerts Saturday morning regarding snow moving towards communities from Assiniboia through Estevan.

Environment Canada reports that the southeast region is likely to get more snow, even though it has been days since the Colorado low that created widespread blizzard conditions.

According to the federal agency the southeast region will receive 10 to 15 cm snowfall during the forecasted snowfall that will begin Saturday night and continue into Sunday.

Environment Canada says that the system is not capable of blowing snow as sustained winds of 20 km/h are predicted for the area.

However, the agency warns people in the affected areas that visibility and driving conditions can suddenly change during heavy snowfall. It is important to be ready for changing road conditions.

Environment Canada Saturday morning issued three alerts to the following towns:

  • Carlyle and Oxbow, Carnduff and Bienfait, and Stoughton
  • Estevan, Weyburn and Radville are among the many options available.
  • Assiniboia and Gravelbourg are also available.
