KYIV. Feb 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is preparing a lawsuit to the International Court of Justice for full compensation for damages caused to the environment due to the shelling of the oil depot in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region, acting Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets has said.

“Preliminary estimates show that the unprecedented environmental losses resulting from a fire at an oil depot located in Kriachky, Vasylkiv District, Kyiv region, total UAH 810 billion. Experts from the State Ecological Inspectorate and the Ministry of Natural Resources are currently making accurate calculations. But I am sure that the number will only go up. Strilets wrote that we will add it the total basket losses inflicted on the occupiers on Sunday.

He also stated that the ecological situation is now under control and that nothing is threatening the health or life of the population.

Minister of natural resources stated, “And the occupiers are certain to pay for the damage done to the environment in Ukraine and for all other crimes against our country.”
