Environment Minister Eamon Ry tests positive for Covid-19

Environment Minister Eamon Ryn has tested positive to Covid-19.

His department stated that the minister is self-isolating at home, having tested positive for the virus.

The minister is complying with all HSE protocols. It said that he had advised the Taoiseach and Tnaiste as well as the Secretary to Government.

Minister Ryan visited Cabinet remotely Friday, so Cabinet members are not in close contact, it added.

Ryan cancelled his appearance at an event last Thursday after suffering mild Covid-19 symptoms. The initial test for the virus came back negative.

But, he continued to experience symptoms so he had to take a second test. This was a positive result.

After receiving a positive result, the minister almost missed the chance to attend the landmark COP Summit in Glasgow.

The HSE advised him to take another test, which came back negative.
