Environment – National Governors Association

States play an important role as environmental stewards, managing state parks and forests, energy production distribution, wildlife protection and land use management. States directly impact natural resources by their preservation and conservation strategies. States must balance their efforts to preserve and protect the environment with their efforts to develop and use natural resources to be effective environmental stewards.
