On Monday, 28 March, a major fire broke out in a landfill in East Delhi’s Ghazipur. Later, Gopal Rai (Delhi Environment Minister) informed that the situation was under control. The fire department reported that no one was hurt during the incident.
Rai also directed Delhi Pollution Control Committee, (DPCC), to investigate the cause and submit a report within a matter of days.
According to the fire department, they received a call at 2:30pm. Six fire tenders arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames.
According to reports, the cooling process continued until 5:10 PM at the dumping site.
Traffic was also affected due to the intense fires.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. More details are being awaiting.
