France, Qatar, and France recognize the importance of protecting the environment.

During the signing ceremony, H.E Jean-Baptiste Faivre (Ambassador of France to Qatar) and officials from Elite Paper Recycling & Lycee Bonaparte.

H E Jean-Baptiste Faivre (Ambassador of France to Qatar), stated that protecting the environment is a top priority for France as well as Qatar. He spoke on the sidelines at a signing of an MoU between Elite Paper Recycling (EPR), and Lycee Bonaparte, a French school.

Speak to The PeninsulaFaivre stated that the environment was a priority for France as it was one of the most heavily involved countries in the Paris Agreement. It is also important for the French Embassy and the community.

We are involved with many initiatives in Qatar. We had a conference last week with the Ministry of Municipality regarding circular economy and garbage management. This is how we can partner with Qatar on this subject, which is a priority for both us and Qatar.

Paris is home to a society that has presented its technology, which turns waste into energy and provides electricity for Paris’ museums and hospitals. This technology is responsible for a lot of electricity in Paris’ hospitals, he said.

Faivre spoke out about the importance of the MoU and said that teaching children in schools about the environment would allow them to modify their behavior around the basic daily behaviours.

These are the actions that help to protect the environment. I welcome the signing of Elite Paper Recycling and Lycee Bonaparte. He stressed that this agreement is concrete and not only related to waste management, but also to raise awareness for children.

The MoU will promote sustainability and recycling in Lycee Bonapartes activities, under EPRs green Schools programme. It will reduce paper waste through recycling and hold informative campaigns to educate students.

Franois Cuilhe (President Lycee Bonaparte) stated that sorting bins would be placed in the school and that eco-delegates will guide students in their recycling and sorting activities.

The GCC’s total urban waste generation is estimated at around 150 million tonnes annually. Municipal solid waste (MSW), which is second in volume after construction wastes, is the largest stream.

Catina Aghayan is the communication advisor at EPR. She said that the company works closely to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and has partnered up with 450 schools in Qatar in order to foster a culture of sustainability in kids as part of the green schools initiative.
