WEATHER ALERT

*************************
Special weather statement in force for:

  • Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
  • Midland – Coldwater Lake – Orr Lake
  • Orillia – Lagoon City– Washago

Wednesday is possible to experience freezing rain and even rain.

Hazards:
Freezing rain with ice accretion between 2 and 5 mm
Strong easterly winds up to 60 km/h
Localized flooding may be possible if rainfall amounts exceed 10-20 mm
It is possible to have icy roads and power outages.

Timing:
Beginning Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening.

Discussion:
Freezing rain is possible starting Wednesday morning or afternoon. Freezing rain will likely change to rain Wednesday afternoon and evening. The temperatures will remain above freezing in areas near Lake Ontario. They should therefore receive only rain. The ground partially frozen may have a lower ability to absorb rainfall and flooding may occur.
Localized power outages could be caused by ice accumulation and gusty easterly winds.
