GAZA CITY (AP) Nearly every household in Gaza Strip depends on batteries to keep its home running after years of power outages. Batteries are used by families to power everything, from lights to internet routers and solar panels. While this has helped with one crisis, the batteries are now causing another. Massive piles of old and used batteries are accumulating at outdoor dumps. Officials say that in a territory lacking the ability to safely dispose of them, these batteries could bring harm to public health and to Gaza’s fragile environment.
