The company launched its latest product recently Mobile MarketThe, a portable grocery store with 250 grocery staples including produce, dairy, meat, and cheese. The trailer makes weekly stops at Pittsburgh neighborhoods that don’t have easy access to fresh food like Sheraden, Homewood and Braddock. Giant Eagle has partnered in each community with an organization that is committed to fighting for residents’ equitable rights.

Customers will find the same prices in the market as they do in-store and can earn exclusive loyalty rewards by purchasing an Advantage Card. While cash is not accepted at the market, patrons can pay using a debit or credit cards, check, or SNAP. A schedule is available Online.

Cinderlands Beer Co.Has joined Allegheny CleanwaysAnd 3 Rivers Outdoor CompanyTo raise awareness and stop illegal littering and dumping in Allegheny County.

Throughout the spring, the group — collectively known as the 3 Rivers Conservation Crew — will host monthly cleanup events. The next environmentally friendly activity will be held on March 5th at the 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. location at 1130 S. Braddock Ave., Regent Square. While they shop, customers can enjoy Cinderlands brews. A $5 suggested donation will go entirely to Allegheny Cleanways.

Cinderlands will release two collaboration beers in spring: one in April to recognize volunteer cleanup efforts, and one in June for celebrations of Pittsburgh’s outdoor spaces.

“I love that beer can be a gateway to doing good, says Paul Schneider, partner and head brewer at Cinderlands. We’ll call this a success when we can say that we’ve raised funds, signed up new volunteers, and told the Allegheny Cleanways story to our beer-loving Pittsburgh audience.”

SuLo XYZ is your chance to take control

The organization has teamed with a Pittsburgh-based technology startup SuLo XYZTo install charging stations throughout Allegheny County.

The power stations, which look like a toaster, house eight portable chargers. Each has lightning micro-USB and USB C cables. SuLos technology allows a phone’s battery to be fully charged in just 35 minutes. To receive a portable charger, users simply need to download SuLo XYZ and scan a QR code at a station. The chargers can be dropped at any station.

It costs $1.50 to rent a charger (user pay the fee via app), with a maximum daily price of $36 after three days. Businesses that rent charging stations receive 15% of all net revenue.

Launched in November 2020 by University of Pittsburgh graduates, SuLo XYZ charging stations are available in 40 locations, including many Crazy Mocha coffee shops and throughout Pitt’s campus.

Wigle Whiskey celebrates it’s 10th Anniversary with giveaways

It is Wigle Whiskeys10th Anniversary, but the company is the one who gives gifts.

After two years of lobbying Pennsylvania legislators to allow spirit producers to sell alcohol in retail storefronts, the Strip District-based distillery finally opened in 2012. Wigle was also the city’s first distillery since Prohibition.

To mark the milestone, Wigle is offering 10 Days of Giveaways via its social media channels to recognize some of the institutions that have made Pittsburgh the innovative, delicious and culturally rich city that it is today, including the National Aviary, DiAnoia’s Eatery, Carnegie Science Center, De Fer Coffee and Sarris Candies.

Street poets sought in Oakland

The Oakland Business Improvement District is looking for original poetry that will be displayed on public sidewalks in the spring.

For the competition, up to 25 poems can be selected Oakland Sidewalk Poetry ProgramThrough March 15. To enter, you don’t need to have published work or experience. For a chance at winning a $100 stipend, professional or emerging writers are welcome to submit their poems and have their words painted around the neighborhood.
