Australia has successfully lobbyized UNESCO to delay a decision regarding listing the World Heritage site “in danger”.Despite concerns about climate change-fueled damage to corals in the ecosystem, this is still a good result.
The funding will be spread over nine years and $579.9 million will be used for working with land managers to improve land condition, remediate erosion and reduce nutrient/pesticide runoff.
