LASALLE, QC, March 28, 2022/CNW Telbec/ – The borough LaSalleIt is happy to announce the second edition its participatory budget. This process gives residents the ability to decide how they want to spend a portion of the municipal budget. The amount of 2022 will be $150,000This will be used to carry out projects submitted by or for LaSalle residents.

“This is an invitation for everyone to join in the creation of a place where life is good. The borough of LaSalleBorough Mayor said that he hopes that the projects will help everyone feel more connected to their community. Nancy Blanchet.

The participatory budget process, which is based on the theme “A living space that reflects your aspirations”, aims to:

  • Initiate residents in municipal democracy life.

  • Participate residents in improving their living conditions by leveraging their creativity and expertise.

  • Encourage social cohesion, and a sense that you are part of the living environment.

The stages of the participatory financial budget

  • March 28, 2022:Launch of LaSalle’sParticipatory budget

  • March 28 May 1, 2022:Ideas gathering and workshops for ideation

  • May 2022:Preliminary screening, analysis and enhancement of the submitted ideas

  • May June 2022:Phase Projects: Workshops to prioritize ideas and develop projects

  • July – September 2022:Analyse of technical, regulatory, and financial feasibility of the projects and workshop to improve the projects

  • October 2022:Unveiling of the voting period and projects submitted for a vote

  • November 7, 2022:Borough Council resolution publically announcing the projects being carried out

  • 2023-2024: The two-year period that will cover the implementation of the projects and the monitoring of their progress to completion will be a two year period.

Steering Committee

To offer a process that is adaptable to each individual, LaSalle’sTo make the participatory budget process a reality, a Steering Committee was established that included elected officials, representatives from community organizations, residents, and employees of the public service. Centre d’cologie urbaine de Montral (CEUM), is supporting the borough in the execution of the process.
