To the Editor:

Our earth is getting warmer! We must all do our part to address the climate crisis, even in West Hartford.

The Town Council is being presented with a new resolution that shows how we can all do our part in slowing the trend. A Connecticut Party of West Hartford supports this resolution and its call to coordinate the town’s commitment to draw on all resources to help preserve our planet. We recommend that the resolution establish a time frame to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

NASA and NOAA analysis, as reported in a WSJ Article Jan. 13, 2022, show that 2021 was the sixth-warmest year on record. The records for the previous seven years are still being broken. “A separate analysis from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said 2021 tied with 2018 for the sixth-warmest year and was hotter than all other years except 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020. The years 2020 and 2016. share the temperature record.”

A Connecticut Party of West Hartford, along with our fellow residents, wants leadership to address the crisis. We must work together, encouraging positive change and making tomorrow better.
