The School of the Built Environment and Architecture includes three divisions: Construction, Property and Surveying, Architecture, and Civil and Building Services Engineering. These programs are among the best in London and LSBU has strong industry connections. There is the Digital Architecture Laboratory (DARLab), a Building Information Modelling Centre (BIM Centre) and a Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings.

The School’s progress will be driven by the new Dean. He/she will work with colleagues to improve and maintain excellence in teaching/learning, research and enterprise. He/she will also play a key role in relationships with external partners.  We are a values-driven institution that prides ourselves on attracting people who can lead and facilitate collaboration between the schools and the Professional Services Teams.  The appointee is expected to provide oversight and support to a strong team. This includes a focus on the development of the Schools teaching/learning and student offerings, investing in research, deepening partnerships with industry partners, and delivering innovative approaches that align with the University’s mission and ethos.

The Dean will report to Professor Tara Dean, Provost. She will also be a member the University’s Management Board. She will also chair the School’s Executive Committee.

The ideal candidate will have a track record in providing inspiring leadership to a range relevant disciplines, overseeing quality of a variety programmes, and encouraging a healthy research culture.  This is a great opportunity to shape the future for inclusive Built Environment education in one of the capital’s most innovative Universities.
