Ministry of Environment and Climate Change opens new website

He, Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, inaugurated Sunday’s official website of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (www.mecc.gov.qa) in the presence of ministry officials.

HE Sheikh Dr Faleh stated the new website reflects the ministry’s desire for quick and easy communication with public after the establishment of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, pursuant to Amiri Decision No. 57 of 2021, which establishes the competencies for the ministries.
The minister added that the website will support the MECC’s efforts to achieve the Qatar National Strategy for the Environment and Climate Change, which is one of the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, and is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
HE Sheikh Dr Faleh emphasized the importance of constant communication with all regional and global organisations and bodies that are concerned with climate change and environmental affairs.
Farhoud Hadi al-Hajri, MECC Public Relations Director, stated that the new website is distinguished by its ease-of-use, flexibility, and distinctive design. It conforms to international standards and allows easy access to information and services related to the ministry.
He said that the website has many sections that introduce the tasks and competencies for the MECC and its affiliated sector and departments. He also noted that preparations are underway for the English version to be launched to serve non-Arabic speakers as well as to provide comprehensive services to all target groups.
The new website provides information for scholars and researchers interested in climate change and environmental affairs. It features an advanced search engine that allows for multiple filters to make it easier for the user to find the information they need.
The website also features a section called “media center” that highlights the most important news and events from the MECC.
The website will also highlight environmental awareness and community participation in the ministry’s events.
