ORONO at the University of Maine’s Senator George J. Mitchell Centr for Sustainability Solutions will host Jessica Scott of the Governors Office of Policy Innovation and the Future to discuss efforts to move Maine toward climate and justice. The talk will be held on Monday, 21 March at 34 p.m.
The Governors Office of Policy Innovation and the Future has been working closely with a number of state agencies, the Maine Climate Council and the general public to explore ways to improve climate and environmental justice for the state. Jessica Scott, senior climate advisor at GOPIF, will present recent achievements, highlight ongoing work, and discuss collaboration opportunities with universities and other organizations throughout Maine in order to bring the benefits to all Maineans.
Scott was previously the assistant secretary for environment for the State of New York. She developed policy and programs to support former Governor Andrew Cuomos’ climate goals. Scott had a focus on clean transportation and natural and working lands, as well as equity and justice in all policies. She has over a decade of experience in climate and environment policy and has worked with nonprofit organizations, local, state, federal governments, and academic institutions.
