WAIMEA Hawaii, Dec. 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Parker Ranch, Inc., through its renewable energy subsidiary Paniolo Power Company LLC, is working with CanadaInnergex Renewable Energy Inc., based in New York, on the development and operation of the 30MW Hale Kuawehi Solar Project. This project will provide power for approximately 15,000 households using clean, renewable energy. The project will be one of only two utility-scale solar farms in the Island. Hawaii, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, and moving the State-wide goal of producing 100% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2045. In 2019, the Public Utilities Commission approved the 25-year power buy agreement with Innergex to supply electricity to Hawaiian Electric. $0.08/kWh. This is one of the most cost-effective energy sources on the island, which will help to reduce electricity bills for all Island residents. The project will also generate almost 20% of the Island’s electricity. Hawaii’sBaseload electricity is required, which means that over 500,000 barrels oil can be avoided over the next 25 years.

Parker RanchInnergex has over 30 years of operating and development experience in renewable energy projects around world. Innergex has a track record of engaging with communities and has committed to working alongside local businesses and contractors to develop Hale Kuawehi. The project is expected in 2022 to be completed with commercial operation by 2022. The Hale Kuawehi Solar and Battery Storage Facility will comprise 30MW AC photovoltaic panels with single-axis trackers, plus 120MWh battery energy storage. It will be located on approximately 300-acres near Parker Ranch’s Industrial Park, off Mamalahoa Highway. The project will bring multiple benefits to the community, including inflows of tax revenue that can be used for reinvestment on the Island or job creation. Innergex is currently developing a community benefits package and reaching out to local non profit organizations.
