New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and New Hampshire Brewers Association Launch Sustainable Craft Beverage Recognition Program

CONCORD, New Hampshire –With the support of New Hampshire Brewers Association, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Pollution Prevention Program launched a program to recognize environmental leaders within the craft beverage industry. The Sustainable Craft Beverage Recognition Program is an extension of the Pollution Prevention Program’s work with the craft beverage sector to improve energy efficiency and conserve water, minimize waste, and reduce the volume or strength of wastewater.

This program is designed to recognize and encourage sustainable practices in craft beverages. It is offered as a voluntary program to environmental leaders in craft beverage industries who go above and beyond to make high-quality, eco-friendly craft drinks.

The program will promote best environmental practices and provide technical assistance to help achieve sustainable and operational goals. Producers must meet sustainability requirements, submit information on an environmental initiative at their company that has reduced water, energy or greenhouse gas emissions, and then apply for admission to the program. The program allows for rolling enrollment that must be renewed each year. It is based on continuous improvement and provides support through videos, webinars and guidance documents. On-site visits are also available to assist producers in their sustainability efforts.

Membership includes state recognition, technical support, and networking opportunities. Members of the recognition program will be featured on the New Hampshire Brewers Association Beer Trail Map and shown on the New Hampshire Sustainable Craft Beverage Member Map. All New Hampshire craft beer producers are eligible for the New Hampshire Sustainable Craft Beverage Recognition Program.
