Newark’s South Ward is the location of an ‘Environmental Summit.

NEWARK, NJ – The South Ward Environmental Alliance (SWEA), will host its first “Environmental Summit”, Saturday, February 19, in Newark.

According to a press release, the event will take places at Weequahic Park and Feldman Middleton Jr. community center, 92 Thomas Carmichael Drive, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

According to organizers:

“One Ward, Fighting for Environmental Justice” is a crucial topic for the South Ward community. It is due to the proliferation in warehouses, increased truck traffic, flooding, and unsafe drinking water in our homes, schools, and homes. The workshops will address environmental injustices and promote the idea that everyone, regardless of race, income or location, deserves a healthy community. The conference will include breakfast, local, state and national environmental speakers, networking lunch, and the launch of Sonny Gaddy Jr.’s scholarship fund.
