LOS ANGELES (Calif.), February 9, 2022 (SEND2PRESS NewSWIRE) The Coalition For A Safe Environment, a non-profit environmental justice organization based in Wilmington, California, will distribute personal protection equipment (PPE) free of charge to community non-profit organizations and public health service providers, churches, and the general public.
Jesse N Marquez, executive director of the Coalition For A Safe Environment, stated that FEMA Region 9 will deliver three truckloads of donated PPE from Walgreens to our Community Emergency Preparedness Network. The PPE will be distributed free of charge to our members, clients and residents. We will be giving out multiple brands of hand soap, hand wash, hand sanitizer, and hand sani wipes as well as gloves.
The PPE will begin distribution on Wednesday, February 9, Thursday, and Friday, February 10, 2022 at the Apostolic Faith Center Parking Lot 1507 E. Robidoux Street Wilmington, CA 90744.
The Harbor Community Benefit Foundation awarded a grant to The Coalition For A Safe Environment in 2018 to create a Wilmington Community Emergency Preparedness Program. CFASE joined Emergency Network Los Angeles and many other emergency response organizations to be prepared in case of disasters or other emergencies.
Ricardo Pulido (director of Community Dreams) stated that in 2020, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health contacted CFASE to assist them in distributing PPE to people to stop the spread of Covid-19. We had 12 community members at the time. The California Governors Office of Emergency Services reached out to us in 2021 to distribute PPE. As the Covid-19 Pandemic continued, our communities were severely affected. Our Community Emergency Preparedness Network now has 25 members.
