Nominations for Larimer County Environmental Stewardship Awards

I believe that we have common values. Environmental stewardship is one of those shared values. It protects and preserves our environment and natural resource to ensure clean air, water, land, and future generations.

The Larimer County Commissioners and Environmental and Science Advisory Board [ESAB]We are looking for nominations for the 2022 Environmental Stewardship Awards. The nomination deadline is March 27, 2018. To nominate an organization, business, or individual, please visit, larimer.org/boards/environmental-and-science-advisory-board/awards/nominate. You can also nominate projects and activities yourself.

Larimer County Environmental Stewardship Awards was established in 1995. The awards are a testament to our county’s commitment towards the environment and our community. These awards are intended to recognize and honor individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated innovative, proactive efforts and smart practices in the environment and sustainability.

The ESAB reviews all nominations and makes recommendations for the Board of County Commissioners. We generally approve their recommendations. At a special public meeting, winners are recognized and honored. Last year, we honored the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. Their mission is to protect and appreciate raptors. [birds of prey eagles, hawks, falcons, owls]Their habitats.

The RMRP provides education programs to more than 15,000 children in schools each year. In response, the RMRP continued its virtual education. We also honored Horse and Dragon Brewery, which is a community-minded company that donated its old beer to farms and gardens to improve composting. The third award recipient was One Times Everyone, a local nonprofit focusing on addressing climate change through the operation of a giving circle model individual donations that magnify other donations each month — to support environmental organizations.

The ESAB, one of 37 advisory commissions and boards, has more than 300 members who provide valuable public service by providing input and ideas that help the Board of County Commissioners make informed decisions.
