New Delhi [India]ANI, April 16: Om Birla, Lok Sabha Speaker, suggested Saturday that the environment be kept safe and that natural resources are not misused.

Birla, speaking at the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute programme held at the Parliament premises. She urged the gathering to find innovative ways of conserving the environment.

Birla stated that the environment is a serious concern for the world. The issue of global warming is a major problem not only in India but worldwide. It affects all areas of life.

“Human life is affected due to climate change. Climate change has a large impact on many sectors and our economic health. The ecosystem is affected by climate change, and this has a significant impact on society, economy, and health. Central and State governments take steps to fight environmental change,” Birla said.

Birla stated that people made the decision to fight for environmental protection in the Paris agreement. He stated that the Paris agreement made it clear that the developed countries had pledged to save the world and protect the environment while also supporting the developing nations.

“Environment has always been a part of our lives as we would worship trees, Sun, Earth and water,” he added.

He further suggested, “Our young generation should work on it. This is your’s responsibility at a time when we are celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

Citing an example of the freedom struggle period, Birla said the “freedom fighters were not aware whether they will get any post after the country will be freed”.

“So, this is the time when we need to fight to save the environment,” Birla added. (ANI)
