Biden warns Russia about the impact of its energy ban
As part of his response to the Russian President, President Biden announced Tuesday that U.S. will prohibit Russian oil, natural gas, and coal imports. The main artery of Russia’s economy is being targeted by the United States. Biden stated that the United States was banning all Russian oil, gas and energy imports in remarks made from the Roosevelt Room.
This means that Russian oil will not be accepted at U.S. port ports and that the American people will deal another blow against Putin’s war machine, he said.
According to a White House fact sheet, Biden signed an executive decree banning Russian energy imports and prohibiting new U.S. investments in Russia’s energy sector. The White House stated that the order will also ban Americans from financing or enabling foreign firms to invest in Russian energy production.
Okay, let’s talk about energy prices:Although the White House was reluctant to ban imports because gas prices have soared significantly, there has been an increase in calls from both sides to ban Russian oil as a punishment for Moscow’s invasion.
Biden noted Tuesday that the effort would likely increase U.S. costs, and that prices will “go higher.”
This is a step taken to further hurt Putin. But there will be costs here in America as well, he stated, noting that he would do everything possible to minimize the impact.
He reiterated his previous comments that such actions are part of the cost to defend freedom.
From the beginning, I promised to be fair with the American people. That was also the first time I spoke to them.ThisHe said that defending freedoms would also cost us.
Both Republicans and Democrats know this. Biden said that Republicans and Democrats have both made it clear that they must do so.
The mechanicsReporters were told by a senior administration official that the ban on new Russian energy purchases would be effective immediately, but that there would be a 45-day wind down period during which existing purchases can be delivered.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN EUROPE
The European Union plans to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas by 2/3 this year and get rid of all Russian fossil fuels by the end the decade.
The European Commission, an executive branch of the EU, stated in a statement, that the EU was trying to move away Russian natural gases in response to Ukraine’s invasion.
It outlined several steps it believed would reduce its dependence on Russia’s natural gas. These included working with international partners to diversify their natural gas supply, speeding permitting for renewable energy projects, adding solar panels to homes and buildings, and speeding up the approval process for renewable energy projects.
It would also double its 2030 goal to produce gas from agricultural waste and create an accelerator of hydrogen energy.
We must get away from Russian oil, coal, and gas. Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission) stated in a statement that we cannot rely upon a supplier who explicitly threatens to harm us.
The United Kingdom also stated that it would work to eliminate Russian oil imports by year’s end.
Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukraine President) applauded Biden for breaking with Putin’s war machine and banning oil gas and coal from the U.S. Market and urged other countries follow his lead.

BIDEN GOES ON DEFENSE
Tuesday’s announcement by the U.S. that it would no longer allow Russian oil imports was a response to criticisms from Republicans.
Biden spoke out about Russian oil imports. He claimed that his administration’s policies do not limit domestic energy production. Biden insists that the U.S. should invest in clean energy so Americans don’t have to be dependent on gas prices.
“It’s simply not true that my government or policies are holding back our domestic energy production. Biden stated that this is simply not true. “Even in the midst of the pandemics, American companies pumped more oil in my first year of office than they did in my predecessor’s first year.”
Officials at the White House have used the comparison between Biden’s first years in office and the Trump administration’s first years in office to argue that they have not capped oil production. However, production was higher in 2019 than it was before the coronavirus pandemic.
Biden also pointed out that 90 percent onshore oil production in America happens on land that is not owned by the federal governments. He also pointed to the thousands of acres that oil companies have leased to drill on which they are not using.
