Panton Farm Fined for Environmental Violations

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Panton farm faces fines for environmental violations.

The Department of Environmental Conservation has determined that Vorsteveld farm agreed to pay a fine, and to correct their actions.

According to the DEC in May 2016 and June 2017, the farm removed plant life and dredged and filled in the wetlands near Dead Creek. This had an impact on more than seven acres of wetlands, as well as the buffer zones.

Officials also stated that they found evidence that farm waste, including manure, had been allowed into a tributary to Dead Creek in March 2020.
