Peterborough’s first Environment and Climate Change Expo will be held on September 23rd. There will be displays and demonstrations about City services and projects, as well as information about the City’s progress toward reducing corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

The inaugural PtboEnviroX is an opportunity for people to celebrate and share these achievements on the third anniversary City Councils declarations of a municipal Climate Change Emergency.

This event will give the City momentum to continue its crucial work in the future, said Kim Zippel, Chair of Environment and Climate Change portfolio. We are aware that there is much more to be done, so we invite the community in to learn about the progress made and future initiatives.

The Climate Emergency Declaration outlines the City’s commitment to protect the community, its economy and ecosystems from the harmful effects of climate change.

It is important to take time to reflect and celebrate the achievements made since September 23, 2019, when we declared our city. This event will highlight the City’s work, as well as provide inspiration and re-energize us to continue our most important work, said Councillor Kemi, who co-chairs the event with Councillor Zippel.

PtboEnviroX allows the City to display some of its actions on climate change. It will feature displays and demonstrations from different City departments. The event will be family-friendly. The event will take effect regardless of the weather.

As soon as details are finalized, they will be posted on the website. Information will be posted at peterborough.ca/environmentSubscribe to updates at peterborough.ca/subscribeRegister to receive news releases
