Pewaukee train derailed; no injuries or environmental danger

Pewaukee’s train was derailed near Somerset Lane, Parkside Road just after 6:30 am Saturday, March 19.

Before there were the sights of crews working and boxescars being flipped over, there was a sound. Some neighbors woke up to the sound of screeching or crashing.

“I was actually asleep when I heard the sound derailment. This wasn’t my first time. Kerrie Clark stated that the incident happened in downtown Milwaukee. “I was always concerned about the derailment because I lived so close to the tracks. It is here.

Families in one neighborhood were left stuck by the chaos.

“That’s our road out,” said Clark, who lives near the derailment.

Authorities believe that a Canadian Pacific cargo train was moving eastbound through Pewaukee based on initial investigations. The train was in the process of slowing to a stop when a boxcar derailed from the train tracks – causing one tanker car and seven other boxcars to derail, too. Only one of the boxcars was full. It was hauling lumber. The other boxescars and tanker cars were empty.

At the moment, there are no injuries reported, no power interruptions, and no private property damage. There are also no hazmat or environmental impacts.

Canadian Railroad was able transport the tanker cars blocking Parkside Road. The roadway is now accessible.

“I have an important birthday party that I must attend. Clark stated that he must figure out how to escape. “Everyone is stuck, and we’re all laughing about it. It could have been much worse.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department and the Pewaukee Fire Department responded to the scene.

Canadian Pacific Railroad continues to investigate the derailment.
