Platform innovates by providing a cutting-edge environment for development

Renesas Electronics Corporation announced the R-Car V4H SoC, which is used for central processing in ADAS or AD solutions. The platform boasts a deep learning performance up to 34TOPS. It allows for high-speed image detection and processing of surrounding objects via automotive cameras, radar, or lidar.

The platform delivers market-leading performance per Watt by carefully combining best in class IP and expert HW optimization. It targets the highest volume zones for automated driving: Level 2+, Level 3

It allows customers to create cost-effective, single-chip ADAS ECUs thanks to its high integration. These control units are compatible with automated driving levels 2+ and 3 including full NCAP 2025 features. The R-Car V4H supports automatic parking functions and surround view, with impressive 3D visualization effects such as realistic rendering.

We have received excellent customer responses to our R-Car V3H/V3M with high-volume production, and we are happy to expand our offering with R-Car V4H,” said Naoki Yoshida vice president, Automotive Digital Products Marketing Division, Renesas. We expect to see cutting-edge ADAS in all vehicle types as Renesas expands their scalable R-Car collection, from entry-level to mid-range, as we continue to expand our R-Car portfolio.

In terms of ISO 26262 functional security, the SoC development process targets ASIL D for all safety relevant IP. The platform’s signal processing component is expected to achieve ASIL D and B metrics for the real time domain.

The company also offers a dedicated power solution based on the RAA271041 pre regulator and the RAA271005 PMI. This provides a high-quality power supply for the R-Car V4H, and peripheral memories, from the 12V battery. These features allow for low power operation and aim to achieve ASIL D compliance for random and systematic hardware faults at a very low cost. This helps to reduce the effort of hardware/software development, as well as lowering design complexity, cost, and time to market.

An SDK can also be provided to facilitate faster and more efficient initial device evaluation and software creation, including deep learning. The SDK offers full functionality for machine-learning development and optimization of embedded systems for power efficiency and performance. You can access complete simulation models and the company’s operating-system agnostic platform allows for easier development of the software defined car.

Fixstars Genesis platform enables engineers to evaluate R-Cars anywhere they are using their cloud solution. This allows them to quickly and easily deliver CNN benchmark results.
