Poll: Americans are more concerned about the environment than economic growth

According to Gallup, a majority of Americans believe that government policy should prioritize economic growth over environmental protection. PollMonday release

Respondents said that the environment should be protected more than economic growth. 42 percent said the opposite.

Six pillars of climate change were also supported by majorities. 99% supported tax credits for Americans who install clean energy systems like solar power in their homes. 75 percent believe tax incentives should be available to businesses in order to “promote the use of wind, sun, and nuclear energy.” 71% support higher fuel efficiency standards. 62 percent supported “strict limits on methane emissions from natural gas production.” 61% supported tax credits for electric vehicle owners. Lastly, 59 per cent supported federal funds for the construction of electric vehicle charging stations.

President Biden toutedSeveral of these are available. Proposalsas key elements of his ambitious BuildBack Better bill, which failed in its passage last year.

Gallup polled 1,017 adults in the United States between March 1st and March 18. The error margin is four percent.
