KARACHI, Dec 18th (APP): President Arif Alvi stressed Saturday the importance of using technology to produce efficient and environmentally friendly energy.

He said that Pakistan was witnessing a new industry for turbine servicing. This was a positive development.

The President was speaking here at the launching of Mechanical Field Support (MFS), a private company that services turbines.

He stated that the growth of the industry of turbine service will increase electricity production because turbines will produce electricity more efficiently while using less fuel.

He stated that the turbine servicing industry in Pakistan could also be of benefit to other countries.

He noted that the agreements were not planned and were no benefit to Pakistan. The country was forced to purchase electricity at a high cost.

He said that countries such as Pakistan couldn’t afford decisions made without planning.

He stated that Pakistan has the potential to produce 50000 megawatts.

The President stated that Pakistan wanted to be an economic hub in different sectors and that it was equipping its young population, with science, engineering, and mathematics.

He said that there was an increasing amount of data in the world, and that it was essential to have a skilled workforce and human resource to use this data.

He said that the country would not be able to make progress in any sector of industry, especially in information technology, if it didn’t educate its people. The government is now focusing on education.

Alvi stated that human activities have a profound impact on the environment, and that the global footprint is severely affecting the environment of the earth.

He stated that the Netherlands, a country smaller than Pakistan, was one of the top countries in the field.

He said that it was crucial to increase agricultural production in order to meet the growing population. Pakistan could also learn a lot by learning from the Netherlands.

Humayun Zubair (Managing Director) of the private turbine company, K Electric Moonis Alvi (Chair Executive Officer), and others spoke at the occasion and highlighted the importance of the turbine service industry.
