PU and WWF sign MoU regarding environment protection

LAHORE: The Punjab University and World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWF Pakistan) have signed an MoU to protect the environment and counter climate change.

According to the MoU, both parties will collaborate to promote research related projects pertaining to key practices WWF-Pakistan in order to minimize the impact of climate changes on the environment and improve the lives of vulnerable people. A ceremony was held here at the PU Vice Chancellors Office on Monday. Among others, Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhter (PU Vice-Chancellor), Director General WWF Pakistan Hammad Khan Naqi Khan Manager Zohaib Javed Batti, Director External Linkages Dr Sobia Khhurram, and others were present.

The MoU stipulates that WWF will extend its services to promote environmental themes and objectives, while engaging all stakeholders. Both organizations would collaborate in different areas of WWF Pakistan to conduct multiple science-based research and engage students in internships, seminars, workshops or awareness campaigns.

Prof Niaz Ahmed addressed the ceremony. He stated that PU will collaborate with WWF Pakistan in order to leverage support from different academic departments as well as research centres at PU for mutually beneficial research projects.

Results for PU MA, MSc: Punjab University (PU), Examinations Department has released the results of several MA/MSc programmes.

These exams include MA Diplomacy & Strategic Studies. The PU website is www.pu.edu.pk.

KEMU orientation: Monday’s White Coat and Orientation Week were held by King Edward Medical University (KEMU). Former Principal of KEMC Prof Khwaja Samiq Husain was the chief guest. Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Asif Mahmood Jah was also the guest of honor. Secretary Specialised Healthcare Education and Medical Education Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi also graced the occasion. The ceremony was hosted by Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice-Chancellor of KEMU. Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson of the Department of Medicine, conducted the ceremony. Other guests included senior faculty, Deans and Directors, Registrars, Pro-VC, and others.

In his welcome address, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal (KEMU VC) congratulated students and parents on their achievements and landmarks in their careers. He shared the story of 162 years’ worth of excellence at KEMU as well as contributions to academics research and service delivery, particularly in COVID-19 and the innovation of Telemedicine services. The students were welcomed by Prof Saqib Saeed, Dean of KEMC.
