March 10, 2022 – The trend originated from Sweden has been taking root over the past few years in Istria

Pula will host an event that combines ecology and fitness this Sunday, the 13th of march. Reports indicate that a plogging race was announced in the ijana forest. Glas Istre.

Plogging is a unique activity that originated from Sweden. It involves picking-up garbage while running outdoors. The original name plogga is a combination of two words, Jogga for running and Plockka up, which literally means to pick up in Swedish. Because it involves a lot coordinated muscle activity, plogging is thought to be beneficial for the environment as well as for physical health.

There were several plogging races held in Istria in 2019 & 2020. The admirable initiative continues with the Pula Sunday race.

There is no registration fee. Anyone interested can take part in either one of the two categories. The first category is for runners and involves jogging along the Orchid trail (Croatian : Orhideja) for 60 minutes, collecting waste in the designated area.

The second category is family-friendly and is open to anyone who wants to help others while enjoying a pleasant walk in the great outdoors. The minimum number of members required for a team is two. They will be given an hour to collect trash along the Little Prince trail (Croatian Mali princ). on the central plateau in ijana.

All participants will receive garbage bags and gloves. They will also be issued participation certificates. Special prizes will be given to the event sponsors for those who collect the most garbage during the race.
