Ready, Set, Hike! Recapping Environment Americas Week of Action to 100% Renewable Energy

A few weeks back, I started my annual tradition of watching the Super Bowl while eating an excessive amount of guacamole and being reminded that teamwork is what makes the dream work. While I’m not an expert in American football, I can tell you that I’ve learned one thing from watching the Super Bowl every year: It takes teamwork, collaboration, and well-thought out coordination to make it to the end.

No matter what your goal, this lesson is invaluable. Conversations between neighbors and grassroots support are key to making our communities 100% clean or renewable energy. These efforts gain momentum over time and attract a large number of supporters from all backgrounds. We have been able to get the support of citizen activists and other allies across the country. Nine statesto make a commitment to a future powered entirely by renewable electricity. We are now calling on leaders in Texas, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Colorado to set similar benchmarks and targets to transition to renewable electricity.

According to Environment Americas Renewables on the Rise 2021ReportRenewable energy sources such as solar and wind have experienced rapid growth. It is important to show policymakers the many benefits of solar, wind, and geothermal energy by making a swift transition to renewable energy sources.

Environment America launched its national campaign the morning after this year’s Super Bowl. Week of action to promote 100% renewable energya coordinated effort to gain support for our vision for a 100% renewable energy system a dozen statesAll across the country. This week of action is based on the principle that teamwork makes the dream possible. Our members, supporters and allies joined us each day to make a difference and voice their opinions on 100% renewable energy within their communities.

Everyone who participated in the campaign contributed to bringing us closer to the goal of a cleaner and more sustainable future powered by renewable energy.

Change doesnt happen overnight. Instead, it happens as advocates, members, activists, researchers, and universities across America create the path to 100% every day. The key to making your dream come true is teamwork.
