Register Now for the Annual Hike A-Thon To Support The Environment Through Outdoor Exploration

TennGreen Land Conservancy today announced that registration has begun for the second annual Hike-a-Thon. A matching donation has also been added to increase the stakes! This event, which is virtually managed by TennGreen Land Conservancy, allows participants to enjoy the outdoors from any location while raising awareness and funds to protect the lands they love. There are 20 adventure competitions for hikers and paddlers, as well as trail runners, climbers, mountain bikesrs and others. Registration is free.

The adventure competitions will begin on June 1st, but participants can start fundraising as soon after they register.

All donations made through the Hike-a-Thon this year will be matched up until $25,000 starting May 1. The Hike-a-Thon funds will go far in protecting the places that provide us with well-being and unrivalled quality of living.

TennGreen Land Conservancy, an environmental nonprofit 501(c),(3) and the oldest accredited state land conservancy in Tennessee, will benefit from the proceeds of this event. TennGreen connects people to Tennessee’s natural world through meaningful outdoor experiences, conservation easements, restoration efforts, and the acquisition (or assistance in the acquisition) of privately-held land. TennGreen conserved more than 2,500 acres of open space and forests in Tennessee in 2021. This included the establishment of Hope Memorial Park in Cookeville and land acquisitions along the Fiery Gizzard Trail, Tracy City, and expansion of Lockeland Springs Park, Nashville.

Participants can compete as individuals or in teams for exciting prizes in a variety adventure competitions. There are many prizes, including REI Backpacking Bundles and KEEN Footwear shoes free of charge, as well as a three-night stay for two at Wildwood Resort & Marina, Granville.

Individual competitions include Most Money Raised and Most Miles Hiked (Senior), Most Miles Peddled, Most Miles Mountain Biked, Most Feet Climbed, Most Overall Adventures and Most Unique Donors.

The team competitions include the Best Team Name and Most Money Raised, most Miles Hiked, most Team Donors, best Team Name, and the Most Unique Adventures.

Three photography competitions will also award prizes, including Best Photo, best group/team photo, and best selfie.

Participants can participate in as many adventure competitions they wish. Throughout June, pop-up prizes will also be available via TennGreen Land Conservations’ Facebook and Instagram pages (@tenngreenlc).
