Report says Colorado is not great for “work-from-home” due to its poor ‘living environment.

At the outbreak of the pandemic, Colorado seemed to be attracting people to it for its work-from-home opportunities and close proximity to outdoor escapes. Recent data suggests that Colorado may not be the ideal location for work-from-home.

In April 2022 WalletHubThe analysis included a comparison of all 50 states and DC to see how they do when it comes working from home. It looked at two main criteria: ‘work environment’, and ‘living environment. Colorado ranked an unimpressive 29th overall.

Although Colorado was ranked 10th in ‘work environment’ metrics, it was 45th when it came down to ‘living environments’.

Living environment criteria excluded entertainment options like outdoor reaction. This may have helped Colorado’s overall performance. Instead of focusing on data like average persons per house, number of homes for purchase with swimming pools, or access to low price internet, the focus was on data such as average persons per household and access to low prices.

Colorado had the 2nd highest number pre-pandemic of work-from home employees. However, it was also revealed that the state is now 47th in cybersecurity and 49th for potential telecommuters.

The same data analysis placed Colorado 12th nationally in 2021 when it comes to working from home. It also gave the state a 1st rank in ‘work environments’ metrics. The state’s overall rank was lowered by a 47th-ranking in ‘living environment’. Although Colorado’s work environment’ rank fell nine places year-over-year (see chart), the state’s living environment’ rank rose by two.

This analysis ignores a key category data that is likely to explain why so many Americans would like to work remotely in Colorado with easy access to nature. It is likely that Colorado would have performed better if it had included data points about its many parks and trails.

Finding remote work is easy if you are looking for a place where you can live the life that you desire. Colorado is a popular choice.

New Jersey was the best state to do remote work. Alaska was the worst.
