Many environmental activists, lawyers, and environmental experts from Kashmir attended the event. The event was coordinated by Dr Raja Muzaffar of J&K RTI Movement, who gave a detailed presentation about unscientific waste management and its impact on water bodies such as Nigeen Lake, Dal lake, Wullar and Shali Ganga.
Muzaffar stated that illegal mining is occurring in small rivers of Kashmir, which are technically impossible for this type of work.
