Sadhguru launches the UK’s Journey to Save Soil campaign

Sadhguru, a well-known Indian spiritualist and environmentalist, launched his “Journey to Save Soil” in London. He is about to embark on a 100-day motorcycle trip through 26 countries to raise awareness about soil degradation that threatens life on Earth.

The Conscious Planet founder and Isha Foundation founder will start his tour in London on Monday. He will end it in India’s Kaveri Basin on June 21 just in time for International Day of Yoga. The Yoga guru will travel across Europe to battle the Indian Monsoon. He hopes to reach a total of 3.5 billion people and create urgency around the Save Soil campaign.

“Soil degradation is reaching levels that threaten food production and climate stability, and the very existence of this planet,” Jaggi Vasudev (known as Sadhguru) said at a Rendezvous event held at the Taj in London on Friday.

“We are not ecologists or environmentalists, we are the environment and ecology. We have forgotten that… Soil is the most lively thing on the planet. It is the foundation of everything you know as life,” he said to Lord Jitesh Gadhia, a British Indian peer.

The 64-year old riding enthusiast will be joined along the route by well-known people for public events in major cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin Paris, Geneva, Tel Aviv, Geneva, and Paris. His mission is to get politicians and influential people to sign up to his Save Soil pledge, to prioritize soil regeneration.

“Icy roads are not friends with two-wheelers, but as if that wasn’t enough, there is a conflict going on. We are not going through this. [Russia-Ukraine]Sadhguru said that the terrain ahead was difficult but not in the war region.

“And, since this is the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence I will also be picking 75 revolutionaries who have participated in the country’s freedom struggle from 1857 to 1857. We can’t make monuments for them but we can bring them back in people’s hearts. He stated that if we aren’t grateful for the work of previous generations, as a nation, we won’t get very far.”

Save Soil is a global movement that aims to address the problem of soil by encouraging countries to implement national policies to increase the organic content of their soil. The Indian government has given funds to the campaign.

“Our Prime Minister’s [Narendra Modi]The soil and soil regeneration are at the heart of our hearts. Sadhguru stated that money has already been allotted to this project. This is a game-changer.”

The environmentalist’s main focus is to highlight the need for better farming practices such as the use cover crops, animal waste, and plant litter to increase the soil’s organic content. He believes that farmers are the best and should receive the right incentives.

“Rich soil is rich in life.” This is a fact that every living organism knows. So, we need everyone to join this movement; we are not against anybody – the fertiliser or pesticide industry. He added that everyone has a role to take part.

Sadhguru is hopeful that more countries will sign up to work towards the protection of soil health around the world.

Mehrnavaz Avari (UK Area Director and General Manager, Taj at St. James Court in London) stated that the Save Soil movement resonates strongly with Taj and our core values.

“We are part Tata and these values go back to our founder. We have been advocates for many causes related education, environment, health. This is part of our larger ethos, which Taj and Tatas believe,” she stated.

The Rendezvous series of talks will be hosted by the newly launched Chambers members’ club. It will feature similar high-profile speakers and masterclasses every other week for an exchange of ideas and celebrations of Indian cuisine at the hotel.
