Rauf Aregbesola (Minister of Interior) has asked the people of Ondo State for help in planting trees to stop deforestation and reduce the impact of climate change on the environment. This will save the human race.

Sola Fasure (Media Adviser to Minister) made this known in Abuja on Saturday.

According to him, Mr Aregbesola provided the advice during tree planting at Akoko Anglican Grammar School AKOGRAMS, Arigidi Ondo State as part activities to celebrate the school’s diamond anniversary.

The minister highlighted the importance of tree planting, conservation, and restoration of forests to combat climate change.

This was in line the Green Recovery Nigeria Programme 2020 under the current administration, he said.

Mr Aregbesola urged against the cutting of trees and encouraged the school’s management and pupils to think of the forest as an endowment that should be protected for future generations.

The minister acknowledged the achievements of the school in many fields of human endeavour and attributed them to the solid educational foundation they received while at school.

Education is the best legacy we can leave to our children. Because of their contribution to our success, we all owe the foundational institution the responsibility for our care, support and identification.

No amount of money, big or small, can support our Alma Mater, he said.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State, outlined the achievements of his administration in developing infrastructure in the state, especially primary education.

He praised the minister and AKOGRAMS’ Old Students Association for their contributions to the school. He also called for continued support for primary schools, which are the foundation of higher education. (NAN)
