Senior Technical Advisor Environment and Climate Change

FHI 360 is looking for an Senior Technical Advisor Environment and Climate Change to join our Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) team and provide strategic and technical leadership to FHI 360’s Environment and Climate Change Strategic Initiative.

Summary of the Position

FHI 360 is seeking an Environment and Climate Change (ECC) Senior Technical Advisor to join our Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) team and provide strategic and technical leadership to FHI 360’s Environment and Climate Change Strategic Initiative. This includes:

  • Identifying and securing traditional as well as non-traditional financial resources.
  • Supporting the implementation and development of technical strategies, tools, programs, or programs.
  • Building staff capacity and providing guidance to ensure that program design, implementation and maintenance adhere to technical standards.

The ECC Senior Technical Advisor will also be expected to:

  • Keep up-to-date on the latest funding streams and technical guidelines.
  • Share best practices and contribute to knowledge base through participation at scientific forums and technical networking.
  • coordinate closely with FHI 360’s other operating units, including disaster preparedness and response, economic growth, global health, nutrition, gender and digital solutions.

This position will be located in the Asia Pacific region and report to the Environment and Climate Change director.

Responsibilities:

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership in one or several ECC technical areas like climate preparedness, mitigation, resilience, plastic pollution, waste management and one health.
  • Contribute to the growth of FHI 360’s Asia Pacific ECC practice area including: securing funding for program implementation, conducting research, and generating thought leadership.
  • Responsible for the design, execution and quality assurance of ECC activities
  • Facilitate technical exchanges and collaboration with FHI 360 partners, staff, and collaborators.
  • Develop tools to design and implement specific technical components. Ensure project implementation adheres with the appropriate global strategy.
  • Analyze, evaluate and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Represent FHI 360 at professional meetings and conferences, organize scientific events and grow FHI 360’s reputation as a thought leader in the ECC arena.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Environment, Climate, or a related field or equivalent internationally. Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Minimum fifteen (15), years of scientific leadership in one of the following: climate change, plastic pollution, air or one health, green jobs, or other relevant topics.
  • Record of producing technical products, including journal articles, job aids and training curricula.
  • Demonstrated experience designing strategic projects that are national/international in scope.

    Fluent English proficiency is required.
