In the coming week, there will be a host of activities, exhibitions, and educational workshops

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah has organized an initiative in City Centre Al Zahia under the slogan Climate Action Now’ to commemorate National Environment Day.

The campaign began with a beach clean up in Khorfakkan on Friday. It was followed by activities and activities to raise awareness, educational workshops, and lectures throughout the week.

Supporting global efforts

Hana Saif Al-Suwaidi, chairperson, EPAA, stated that the event has been remembered for over 20 years. She said, “The event, with great meaning and serves to remind of the importance the environment is important, has been honored for more than 20 and we are eager to participate in our strategy, which aims at protecting and preserving biodiversity and sustainability.”

Al Suwaidi encouraged community members to be active in protecting the environment as well as supporting Sharjah in its global efforts for preservation and awareness of the need for it to be taken care of and improved its resources.

Improved air quality

The campaign aims at introducing the concept of air quality. It is measured by how clean or polluted the air is.

The campaign will also increase awareness about the importance mangroves to the UAE and how they reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Al Qurm in Kalba will receive a number mangroves as part of this campaign.

Through scientific research and studies, the EPAA aims to protect the environment, wildlife, and their biodiversity. The authority publishes educational materials, implements policies for environment awareness and programs, as well as launches campaigns in the area of education and environmental awareness.
