With 2021 being one Hottest years everThe new report comes at a crucial moment, with extreme weather events such as hurricanes, floods, wildfires and dangerous winter storms increasing in frequency all over the globe. It warns that any delay in concerted, anticipatory global action to adapt and mitigate will result in a narrowing window of opportunity to ensure a sustainable and liveable future for all. This report sounds the alarm. Already we are seeing the effects of global warming and they are already causing a human toll. These serious problems are only going to get worse with the current rate at which global warming is taking place. It is time to act now. We have the solutions at our fingertips. We must stop relying on fossil fuels, and switch to clean renewable energy and electrified transportation systems. We can still reduce emissions quickly and meet the goals we must reach if we do this. We will not only avoid the worst effects of climate change but also create a better future for our grandkids and grandchildren by creating cleaner air, cleaner water, and healthier communities.
Environment Americas Destination: Zero Carbon Campaign Director Morgan Folger said:
Global warming has many impacts and will affect every part of the world. We must make real progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation if we want to avoid the worst effects of global warming as described in the United States’ new report. Zero emission cars and trucks, buses, trains, and trucks all have the potential of slowing global warming, and ensuring that our lungs are healthier. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provides billions of dollars for electric vehicle charging stations and buses. This will allow states to increase their investment in electric transportation and reduce carbon emissions. It will also help ensure a safe and secure future for all Americans.
