  • Awareness of environmental risks and how they relate in business

  • Demonstrating the management of these environmental risk factors and best practice in environmental leadership

Stericycle’s core business operations for 2020 included the treatment of 1.5 billion pounds medical waste, diverting 104 million lbs of plastic from landfills and safely disposing of 40 million unused pharmaceuticals. It also recycled 1.1 million pounds through its Shredit secure information destruction service. In its CDP disclosures, the Company stated that it implemented several carbon emission mitigation initiatives in 2020. These included increasing energy efficiency in multiple facilities and improving fleet routing efficiency.

Simon FischweicherCDP North America’s head of corporations and supply chain commented that “Climate Change poses a present- and future risk for companies and their supply networks. Companies cannot manage environmental risks and opportunities unless they measure them. This is especially important as federal policymakers and large mainstream investors push for greater transparency. Stericycle took an important first step by disclosing their environmental impacts through CDP. I look forward their continued dedication to transparency in securing a sustainable, just, and net zero world.
