Story details toxic environment that Urban Meyer experienced while working with the Jacksonville Jaguars

A story about The Athletic has revealed some ugly truths about Urban Meyer’s time as the head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, which lasted for less than a full season.

Per the story, Meyer was unaware of multiple star players in the NFL — including Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald and San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

Who is the 99 guy on the Rams’ team? Meyer apparently asked a staff member, according to The Athletic. I hear he could be a problem.

In reality, the lack awareness was only the tip. Below are other instances that were highlighted throughout The Athletic’s story:

Meyer also mentioned in the report:

  • Told quarterback Trevor Lawrence to “slow it down” for receiver John Brown, after running a bad route in practice. Meyer allegedly made the comment, These boys from the South, their transcripts aint right.”
  • Meyer reportedly made fun of a player during a team meeting and then broke down.

Meyer was fired in the final days of his first season as a Jaguars player after compiling a record of 2-11. His termination was also caused by growing resentment within the locker room.
