Rawalpindi: The Rialto Park street library will be a hub for book lovers who want to read in a natural setting.

According to the details, the civic authority created seating arrangements for the public around the street library, which is the first in Rawalpindi.

Visitors can enjoy reading at the greenery created by the civic authority while sitting on benches outside the Miyawaki Urban Forest. It contains 8,000 plants, 52 species.

Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) written material states that the purpose for establishing a street book library was to encourage the recycling of books and share them; give everyone in the community access to literature and the joys and pleasures of reading; increase opportunities for people to meet, connect, and socialize; as well as enlivening public spaces and activating them.

It said that commuters and passersby are welcome to browse a variety of books, including poetry, travel guides, history textbooks, and biographies.

The idea is that people can either take a book with them without having to check in or out, or they can leave a book. The books can be borrowed for free and exchanged for another book.

Ali Asghar, who visited the Rialto park, said that books can transport people to a new world, experience what is impossible, and unlock their potential. It will be a great sight to see that anyone can come here and pick up a book to discover a new world of possibilities.

The street library is home to thousands of plants that range in height from five to seven feet. The park was home to many species of plants, including amaltas and har singhar, hareer.
