Christopher Luxon, National’s Leader, wants to change the reputation of the centre-right as someone who cares more about the economy than those in poverty and the environment.

During a speech at National’s retreat in Queenstown, he made these comments.

He claims that the lower rungs are falling apart and that people don’t have equal opportunities.

Sue Bradford, a social activist and former Green MP, says she was “astonished” by the comments.
