Decade of ChangeThe latest global award for photography and subsequent exhibition by the British Journal of Photography (BJP) – The bi-monthly publication also runs Portrait of Britain, Female Focus and Portrait of Humanity.

Governments around the world are failing to act on climate change. Photography can be a mirror. Warning sound. A vehicle for truth.

Award for Decade of Change

Each award recognizes new talent and highlights cutting-edge practices within the industry. However, each award has a different focus and theme. This year’s Decade of Change award – now in its second year – is focused on the climate crisis, which is arguably the biggest issue of our current time.

Photography transcends language and is universal. The winning images of Decade of Change were chosen because they featured stories that could or would inspire climate action. These stories range from the environmental destruction caused by heavy industry to the effects of global warming on small towns.

Three categories were open to entry for photographers and videographers from around the globe in 2022. The awards are for two series of work and a piece of moving images, as well as 30 separate shots. Below, we have selected a few of the most impressive and moving winners.
