LAFAYETTE, Ind. LAFAYETTE (Ind.) The transformation of the Columbian Park lagoon earnedLafayette Parks & Recreation an annual Tree Lafayette award and two other entities dedicated towards helping the environment.

Tree Lafayette awardedCustom Cuts Lawn care with the Preservation Award for planting and conserving trees around Lafayette. Tipmont EnviroWatts received the Presidents Award.

Tree Lafayette, who was presenting Parks andRecreation with the Environmental Award, noted that the lagoon has been upgraded. It features a “strategically designed gravel filter layer and native plants coupled with an aerationsystem that will sustain high water quality.”

Parks and Recreation collaborated with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Purdue Forestry and Natural Resources Department for the creation of the sustainable ecosystem in this lagoon.
