UMDs 4th Annual Environment Summit

DULUTH, MN. (KBJR). This year’s theme for the fourth annual Environmental Summit is Our Planet, Our Future.

Local environmental organizations met at the Kirby Student Center in order to raise awareness about environmental issues for UMD students.

The topics covered range from how to sustain the honeybee population to how to provide better drinking water.

Organizers hope students will become more aware of the importance and fight for regional environmental justice.

Shelby Sutz, who is one the organizers, said there are simple habits people could adopt to create a cleaner environment.

Sutz explained that there are many sustainability activities that people can do at their homes, such as cycling, composting, or recycling, but that there are also larger scale things like voting.

The event runs from March 17-18. The event will conclude with four local speakers, a panel discussion, and a free catered meal.

The event is completely free but pre-registration required. Facebook Page and Website.
